What’s the best type of olive oil to use in hummus?

Donna M asked:

What makes the best hummus - extra virgin olive oil, light olive oil, pure olive oil, etc.? Would I sacrifice anything if I chose a cheaper type of olive oil?

most likely pure olive oil because in every recipe ive got it says olive oil, it doesnt say extra or light, but you can use whatever you prefer, i still think your hummus will taste as good. From a nutritional standpoint, chickpeas are an excellent source of protein, proteins that are devoid of purines, and are therefore ideally suited to those who suffer from gout. With respect to other legumes they have a higher fat content, which makes them more caloric; they are therefore not what one wants during a diet. However, they are quite rich in calcium, making them a good choice for combating osteoporosis, are also rich in iron, and are an excellent source of fiber. They’re instead sodium-poor, which makes them a good bet for those on reduced sodium diets.
Here is a hummus recipe for you to try. You can buy the Tahini in some supermarkets, if you dont like the tahini (sesame sauce) you can try the recipe without it:
Try a middle eastern vegie dish, Its called Falafel.
Falafel are Vegie patties, Ball shape, made from crushed ***** peas and parsley, they sell it in kebab shops, try it and if you like it you can make it?http://mideastfood.about.com/od/maindishes/r/falafelrecipe.htm its probably easier to use the can of ***** peas..
Falafel is usually wrapped in pita bread with salad, and you have it with tahini sauce (sesame sauce),
this is a recipe for Tahini sauce:
After preparing the Falafel and the tahini sauce, this is how you prepare the Falafel sandwich using some salad ingredients. great recipe is Tabouleh, Tabouleh is a salad like no other. Made with fresh veggies, olive oil and spices, it can be eaten in pita bread, scooped onto pita bread, or traditionally with a fork. Try this recipe for Tabouleh,…
P.S. If the links dont take you straight there to the recipe, just enter in the search box of this website the name of the dish i gave and it will lead you to it… Enjoy…..

Since hummus is strongly flavored, you will not sacrifice much in terms of flavors by buying a cheaper tyoe of olive oil

If you can’t find a Greek virgin olive oil then use a Spanish brand such as Goya.

For the brand have different brands have different flavors too because not worth going for the most of oils also in the most expensive one either use extra virgin olive.
